HC Deb 28 November 1974 vol 882 cc249-50W
Mrs. Bain

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many Scottish jobs are involved in the HS146 project.

Mr. Meacher

As far as is known none of the work on the HS146 project is being carried out in Scotland.

Mr. Stanley

asked the Secretary of State for Industry on what date his Department became aware of Hawker Siddeley's decision to suspend development work on the HS146.

Mr. Benn

I was told in July that Hawker Siddeley Aviation proposed termination of the project. In October the company wrote a formal letter asking for the Government's agreement by the end of the week to a mutual termination of the contract and stating that in any event the company intended to abandon work on the HS146 by 21st October.

Mr. Hoyle

asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether he will make a further statement on the future of the HS146.

Mr. Benn

I shall make a statement as soon as possible.
