HC Deb 28 November 1974 vol 882 cc241-2W
Mr. Ovenden

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what percentage of continental lorries entering Great Britain via the Kent Channel ports can be subject to weighing when the four new weighbridges have been installed at Dover; and for what proportion he considers facilities should be provided.

Mr. Carmichael

The present aim is to weigh 10 per cent. to 15 per cent. of incoming foreign lorries. Combined with random checks inland, this should ensure a high level of compliance with United Kingdom weight limits.
