§ 31. Sir George Youngasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will use his discretion under Section 5A(2) of the British Nationality Act 1948 to register as United Kingdom citizens those civil servants who are currently citizens of Pakistan and therefore face dismissal.
§ Mr. Alexander W. LyonThere is now only one such person facing dismissal. He was not registered under Section 5A(2) of the Act of 1948 because he did not satisfy the statutory requirement, and, while I have reconsidered the cast, I remain of the opinion that it would be wrong to grant this application for registration. I am writing to the hon. Gentleman about the case.
