HC Deb 27 November 1974 vol 882 cc160-1W
51. Mr. Grimond

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will seek powers to treat the sea routes to the Scottish islands on the same basis as trunk roads on the mainland—that is, bearing all capital costs on the Exchequer.

Mr. William Ross

I am reviewing the question of financial support for shipping services to the islands, principally in relation to the Scottish Transport Group's subsidiary shipping companies, and will make a statement as soon as possible.
