HC Deb 26 November 1974 vol 882 c124W
Mr. Normanton

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what facilities are available for frequencies to be allocated for the general use of low power R/T intercom radios; and whether he will give urgent consideration to the allocation of one single UHF band exclusively for this kind of equipment, as is the practice in the United States of America.

Mr. Alexander W. Lyon

No frequencies are allocated for general use, but the Home Office assigns frequencies to applicants as required. These would be in one or more of the appropriate frequency channels, either at VHF or UHF. So far as we are aware there is no single UHF band exclusively allocated in the United States of America for this type of equipment, but in any case it would not be appropriate to allocate one in the circumstances obtaining in the United Kingdom.
