asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will specify in detail the projects deferred or cancelled in 1974–75 as a result of the cuts in the defence budget in December 1973 and March 1974 totalling £228 million.

The main equipment projects to be affected included the deferment of two destroyers, two frigates, two nuclear powered submarines and an MCMV; the deferment of communications equipment, improvements to the family of CVR(T) tracked reconnaissance vehicles and the replacement of telephone exchanges in BAOR. The full development of the QC 434 missile and certain improvements to the Phantom aircraft were cancelled.
