HC Deb 22 November 1974 vol 881 c551W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many public sector houses he estimates will be built in each of the next six years in the North Down area; how many applicants for housing are on the waiting list for accommodation at present; and what is the forecast of the number of persons who will make application for housing in North Down in each of the next six years.

Mr. Concannon

The Northern Ireland Housing Executive estimates that in each of the next six years the number of public sector houses which will be completed in the North Down area is as follows:

Financial year No. of Houses
1974–75 177
1975–76 184
1976–77 240
1977–78 390
1978–79 510
1979–80 410

At present there are 1,505 applicants on the waiting list for housing in the North Down area.

In planning the housing programme, the executive takes into account current waiting lists, the existing condition of housing stock, and an assessment of population change prepared by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Planning. No detailed forecasts of the numbers of applicants in future years are available.
