§ Mr. Simsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation to enable United Kingdom citizens employed outside the United Kingdom by the European Economic Commission to vote at Parliamentary elections in the same way as Crown servants and British Council staff.
§ Dr. SummerskillThe Speaker's Conference on Electoral Law of 1965–68 considered the extension of the franchise to British subjects living abroad but recommended no change in the law except for the inclusion of British Council staff in the category of service voters. It is an issue which we should wish to see re-examined at an appropriate opportunity.
