§ Mr. CarmichaelThe results of the public consultation on the choice of alternative routes, which took place in the summer, are at present being analysed and my right hon. Friend expects to be in a position to announce the preferred route early next year. Subject to the availability of funds at the time, it is hoped that work on the bypass might start in about six years.
