HC Deb 18 November 1974 vol 881 c286W
1. Mr. Newens

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will introduce restrictions on the importation of motor vehicles and cars manufactured abroad similar to those which the exporting country places on motor vehicles or cars imported from the United Kingdom.

Mr. Deakins

The difficulties experienced in selling motor vehicles abroad vary in nature from country to country. It would not be practicable to eliminate these simply by restricting imports. But if my hon. Friend has any particular cases in mind I would be glad to look into them.
