Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT the value of the family allowance for a one-child, two-child, three-child and four-child family, respectively, as a percentage of national average male industrial earnings in each of the member countries of the EEC.

The rates of British family allowances for a two-child, three-child, and four-child family, expressed as percentages of national average male industrial earnings in Great Britain as at October 1973 were 2.2 per cent., 4.6 per per cent. and 7.1 per cent. Respectively, Percentages for other countries cannot be determined in the absence of corresponding earnings figures.
