§ Mr. Guy Barnettasked the Prime Minister whether he intends to review the arrangements for The Queen's Award to Industry.
§ The Prime MinisterThe committee which reviewed the scheme in 1970 recommended that a further review should take place not later than 1975. The scheme will, therefore, be reviewed during this winter, so that any modifications which experience has shown to be desirable and any new ideas for it can be recommended to Her Majesty The Queen. I hope to receive the report of the Review Committee in time for any modifications to be implemented in the awards made in 1976.
His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who was chairman of the committee which set up the scheme in 1965, and who has taken a close interest in it since its inception, has agreed to be Chairman of the Review Committee. The Review Committee will consider all aspects of the award, including questions of scope and eligibility. Those wishing to suggest changes in the scheme are invited to submit views to the Office of The Queen's Award to Industry, 1 Victoria Street, London, by the end of this year for the Review Commitee's consideration.
The membership of the committee will be announced shortly and the review will be widely publicised.
