§ Mr. Crowderasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give the terms of the oath taken by each individual member of local authorities; and whether he intends to include amendments to those terms in his forthcoming legislation.
§ Mr. John SilkinCouncillors are required to make a declaration of acceptance of office in the following form:
"I, AB, having been elected to the office of councillor, hereby declare that I take the said office upon myself, and will duly and faithfully fulfil the duties thereof according to the best of my judgment and ability."
I have no plans to propose an amendment to the terms of this declaration.
