HC Deb 14 November 1974 vol 881 cc185-6W
22. Mr. David Price

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the total effect upon demand for the years 1974–75 and 1975–76, respectively, of all the measures announced by the Government since 22nd July; and what will be the effect of these measures upon public expenditure for 1974–75 and 1975–76, respectively.

Mr. Healey

The effect of my Budget proposals will be to add an extra £600 million of demand at an annual rate by the second quarter of next year. The growth of total output in the period ahead is forecast at about 2 per cent. per annum.

Details of public sector expenditure and finances were set out in my Budget speech, and further details are given in the Supplementary Red Book for 1974–75. As for 1975–76 it would be unreasonable, given the unicertainties I described in my Budget speech, to add further to the figures given in the Supplementary Red Book.
