HC Deb 14 November 1974 vol 881 c237W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will appoint a consular agent for the protection of United Kingdom citizens, and their interests, in the Turkish held parts of Cyprus.

Mr. Hattersley

No. The staff of the British High Commission in Nicosia concerned with consular functions have already been strengthened, and we believe that the amount of protection we are now able to provide would in no way be increased by the appointment of a consular agent.
