HC Deb 14 November 1974 vol 881 c229W
Mr. Gould

asked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will make regulations for licensing and controlling agencies which arrange the employment of au pair girls.

Mr. Harold Walker

The Employment Agencies Act 1973 provides for the licensing and control of private employment agencies, including au pair agencies, and enables me to make regulations to secure their proper conduct and to protect the interests of all who use their services. The Act can only come into force when the necessary regulations have been approved by Parliament. My right hon. Friend has made some proposals and is having consultations with interested parties about them.
