Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what sums, expressed in sterling, have been paid or pledged by the United Kingdom for the various activities of the United Nations in the financial year 197475 or the calendar year 1974 as appropriate, including contributions to the regular budget, peacekeeping activities, the specialised agencies, and any special appeals made by the Secretary-General.

(a) This figure is for 1973–74 and is on the basis of the latest reliable figures available.
(b) This figure represents the two mandate periods October 1973–March 1974 and April 1974–September 1974.
(c) The United Kingdom has offered a contribution of £million towards this programme. The second instalment of £500,000 will be paid in the financial year 1975–76.
(d) The United Kingdom contribution to this appeal is £62,000 to be made in three annual instalments of which this is the second.
(e) This figure includes a contribution towards the European Civil Aviation Conference.
(f) Originally estimated drawings in 1974–75 against United Kingdom accumulated commitments to IDA. Drawings will exceed this figure and the Supplementary Estimates will be presented to Parliament.
(g) Estimated amount payable in 1974–75 to maintain the value of part of United Kingdom subscription after devaluation.
