HC Deb 12 November 1974 vol 881 cc85-6W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will set up a committee of inquiry to examine the workings of the wholesale-retail meat trade and the position of the livestock industry as a whole.

Mr. Bishop

The Price Commission is already engaged on an in-depth study of meat prices including distributors' costs and margins. The position of the livestock industry is under constant review and I would refer the hon. Member to my right hon. Friend's speech in the House on 31st October and the answers he gave to the hon. Member for Devon, West (Mr. Mills) and others on 7th November 1974.—[Vol. 880, c. 408–14 and 1215–20.]
