HC Deb 11 November 1974 vol 881 c26W
Mr. Lomas

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will seek powers to prohibit the import of foreign birds, except certain parrots, and birds of prey for sale to the public.

Dr. Summerskill

Such powers already exist under the Protection of Birds Act 1954, and they have been used in the Wild Birds (Importation) Order 1970 to prohibit, except under licence, the importation of live falcons and owls.
