HC Deb 07 November 1974 vol 880 cc217-9W
Mr. Freud

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if she will publish a table in the OFFICIAL REPORT showing the number of radiographers at present employed in each regional health authority and the number of unfilled vacancies in each of these areas;

(2) if she will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a table indicating the number of physiotherapists employed in each regional health authority and the number of unfilled vacancies in each area;

(3) if she will publish a table in the OFFICIAL REPORT showing the number of speech therapists at present employed in each regional health authority and the number of unfilled vacancies in each of these areas.

Dr. Owen

Information in respect of regional health authority regions is not yet available. The number—whole-time equivalent—employed in the former hospital service in each of the regional hospital board regions as at 30th September 1973 is set out below. In the absence of generally accepted standards staffing levels are matters for individual employing authorities and no central record of establishments is maintained, but a detailed survey of radiographers carried out in 1972 showed the additional number said to be required at 1st April 1972 and these are also shown below.

Department; and if she will list any which she proposes to postpone in view of the current economic situation.
