Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) how many persons so far appointed to posts within the Strathclyde Region will earn salaries in excess of those currently enjoyed by the lowest-paid town clerk in the present large burghs within the west of Scotland;

(2) how many persons currently employed by local authorities in the west of Scotland earn salaries in excess of that earned by the lowest-paid town clerk in the present large burghs within the west of Scotland.
