§ Mr. Sillarsasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what consultations he has had with inshore fishing interests about the EEC common fisheries policy; and whether inshore fishing policy is a matter for fundamental renegotiation.
§ Mr. William RossMy right hon. and noble Friend the Minister of State met representatives from both the inshore and deep sea sectors of the Scottish fishing industry on 19th June for a full discussion on these matters. The Government have indicated to the Community that the common fisheries policy will need to be modified in the light of the eventual outcome of the United Nations Law of the Sea Conference.
