HC Deb 01 November 1974 vol 880 c28W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what will be the Christmas bonus entitlement of a couple when the man is aged 58 years and in receipt of invalidity benefit and the wife is aged 61 years but has no retirement pension in her own right.

Mr. O'Malley

Under the proposals in the Bill which is now before Parliament an invalidity pensioner will be entitled to payment of £10 regardless of age. Unless he and his wife are both over pensionable age he will not be entitled to any further payment in respect of her but, if she is entitled to any of the qualifying benefits, she will receive an additional payment.
