HC Deb 24 May 1974 vol 874 cc371-2W
Mr. Tyler

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list those new county planning authorities which have completed their structure plans for public consultation, those that are in the course of preparing them, and those that have yet to begin the process.

Mr. Oakes

County planning authorities are not required to provide information about public participation until their structure plans are submitted to me. Structure plans have been submitted and consequently public participation has been completed for the whole or part of the following new county planning authorities' areas.

  • Cleveland CC
  • Hereford and Worcester CC
  • Staffordshire CC
  • West Midlands Metropolitan CC
  • Hampshire CC
  • Leicestershire CC
  • Warwickshire CC

The other new county planning authorities where structure plans are statutorily in preparation for the whole or part of their areas are:

  • Bedfordshire CC
  • Buckinghamshire CC
  • Cheshire CC
  • Cumbria CC
  • East Sussex CC
  • Greater Manchester CC
  • Isle of Wight CC
  • Merseyside CC
  • Northamptonshire CC
  • Nottinghamshire CC
  • Peak Park Planning Board
  • South Yorkshire CC
  • Suffolk CC

  • Wiltshire CC
  • Derbyshire CC
  • Essex CC
  • Hertfordshire CC
  • Lancashire CC
  • Norfolk CC
  • North Yorkshire CC
  • Oxfordshire CC
  • Salop CC (Shropshire CC)

Among these, I understand that by the end of 1973 the process of consulting the public had started at least in the areas of the North Yorkshire, Northamptonshire and Lancashire County Councils.

The remainder of the new county planning authorities which are not as yet statutorily required to prepare structure plans for any part of their areas are:

  • Avon CC
  • Cambridgeshire CC
  • Devon CC
  • Durham CC
  • Humberside CC
  • Lake District National Park
  • Northumberland CC
  • Surrey CC
  • West Yorkshire CC
  • Berkshire CC
  • Cornwall CC
  • Dorset CC
  • Gloucestershire CC
  • Kent CC
  • Lincolnshire CC
