HC Deb 24 May 1974 vol 874 cc372-3W
Lord Balniel

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment why there has been delay in giving his approval to the appointments to be made by the Commission for the New Towns for the Welwyn Hatfield Committee; and when he intends to give his approval.

Mr. John Silkin

There have been several reasons why my right hon. Friend has not yet come to a decision on the commission's proposals, including the need to give full consideration to all aspects of the matter, including the representations made by the Welwyn Hatfield District Council. He will make his decision as soon as possible.

Lord Balniel

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment on what date the names for the Welwyn Hatfield Committee were submitted to him by the Commission for the New Towns for his approval.

Mr. John Silkin

4th March 1974.
