§ Mr. Ovendenasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will instruct the Alkali Inspectorate to publish full details, including the name of the company, on occasions when standards of pollution control are infringed, together with a statement of the action taken by the inspectorate.
§ Mr. Denis HowellInformation about the numbers and kinds of infractions and prosecutions are given in the Chief Alkali352W and Clean Air Inspector's Annual Report. I will consider instructing the chief Inspector to include the names of firms against which a successful prosecution has been undertaken. I expect the recently announced committee of inquiry into air pollution control will also wish to consider the question of this kind of publicity.
