HL Deb 23 May 1974 vol 351 c1673WA
LORD O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are the food taxes imposed on the British people by the E.E.C.

LORD STRABOLGI

The United Kingdom has had import charges on foodstuffs imported from non-preferential sources for many years. In accordance with our obligations under the Treaty of Accession the United Kingdom is now gradually adopting the E.E.C. rates of import levies and duties for most foodstuffs from third countries.
