46. Mr. Ioan Evans

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he can now make a statement on Government policy towards the illegal regimes in Rhodesia and Namibia; and if he will make a statement.

47. Mr. Kenneth Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what plans Her Majesty's Government now have to seek a settlement with Rhodesia.

In Rhodesia we will accept no settlement that does not enjoy the support of the African majority there, who must clearly play a major part in working out its terms.

As regards Namibia, the Government have already made it clear that policy towards Namibia is one of the matters currently under review.
