HC Deb 22 May 1974 vol 874 c167W
48. Mr. Ford

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has made upon behalf of Miss Susan M. Allinson of Bradford following the refusal of the East German authorities to allow her fiancé to join her in England, or to permit her to marry him in the GDR; what reply he has received; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hattersley

Since February 1973 continued representations have been made in London and East Berlin to the East German Government about British nationals, including Miss Allinson, who wish to marry GDR citizens and settle in the United Kingdom. Our Ambassador in East Berlin made special representations about an exit visa for Miss Allinson's fiance on 30th April. We shall continue to pursue the matter.
