asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many persons were committed to the Crown court for sentence in Suffolk during 1973, 1972 and 1971, respectively.

In Suffolk 96 persons were committed for sentence under Sections 28 and 29 of the Magistrates' Courts Act 1952 in 1971, and 85 in 1972. The statistics for 1973 are not yet available.

The number of persons committed for trial is not immediately available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost. However, 343 persons appeared for trial at the Crown court in Suffolk in 1971, and 387 in 1972. Corresponding statistics for 1973 are not yet available.
