§ Mr. Grimondasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will exempt technical teachers from the need to sit a further examination to enable them to be paid on Scale 11.
§ Mr. William RossIt is the responsibility of the Scottish Teachers Salaries Committee to determine the salaries to be paid to the various groups of teachers holding different qualifications. I have no power to exempt teachers from any examinations which may be required if they wish to improve their qualifications and thus increase their salaries.
