HC Deb 21 May 1974 vol 874 cc123-4W
Mr. Hurd

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what has been the reduction in the rate support grant pay- to the hon. Member for Somerset, North in similar terms to those in which he wrote to the hon. Member for Bristol, South announcing the opening of the Avon Bridge and apologising to his constituents for inconvenience; and if he will publish this letter in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Mr. Mulley

A letter on this subject was sent to the hon. Member on the same day as the letter to my hon. Friend the Member for Bristol, South (Mr. Cocks), which was in reply to one he had written to me. I readily sympathise with the hon. Member's constituents, and all others affected, for the noise and congestion suffered while we have been waiting for the completion of the bridge.
