§ Mr. Shersbyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what consideration is being given by his Department to the harmonisation of heavy vehicle regulations between the EEC and the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. MulleyMy Department is currently involved in the negotiation of harmonised technical standards for motor vehicles in the EEC. Many of the standards, though not all, are relevant to heavy vehicles. I have, however, made it clear that we cannot accept the Community's proposals on weight and dimensions for heavy goods vehicles.
