HC Deb 03 May 1974 vol 872 c338W
Mr. John Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what discussions he has had with Renfrewshire Education Authority regarding the problem of unruly pupils; and if any solution has been suggested other than expulsion from school with no alternative instruction or guidance being offered to the pupil.

Mr. William Ross

I have had no discussions or request from the authority for a discussion of this problem nor has it put any suggestions to me for dealing with unruly pupils, a matter which is primarily its responsibility. The question of exclusion and alternative provision for such pupils will, however, be examined by the committee of inquiry into truancy and indiscipline in schools which I am at present setting up.
