§ Mr. McCuskerasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he is satisfied that adequate resources are being made available to the community relations officers of the RUC and the Army.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesThe RUC budget for community relations work in 1974–75 is £20,000. Every member of the force is aware of his responsibilities for fostering good community relations, and plans are being prepared by the Chief Constable for the officers engaged full-time on community relations work to make full use of this substantially increased budget. I understand that the Army's budget for 1974–75 for community relations work is also £20,000. I am satisfied that proper allocations are being made to community relations, bearing in mind the other demands on resources.
