asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the total cost, in British and foreign currency, of keeping British military forces in Germany.

For 1974–75 the estimate for the total cost of the forces in Germany is £400 million. The foreign currency cost is estimated to be some DM1,800 million (£294 million at the exchange rate prevailing at the end of 1973). Both figures exclude the cost of equipment.
