HC Deb 01 May 1974 vol 872 cc465-6W
Mr. Hill

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when considering the seaport sector of the Maplin project, if he will discuss the possibility with the British Transport Docks Board of using the 950 acres of reclaimed land at Southampton which is already in the ownership of the board, as an alternative site for the new Europort of the United Kingdom.

Mr. Mulley

It is open to any harbour authority to submit proposals for port development, which will be considered on their merits and in relation to the national interest.
