§ Mr. Loveridgeasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will introduce legislation to provide that British soldiers serving in Northern Ireland will have the same right of trial by jury in any civil court proceedings as if the alleged offence had been committed in Great Britain.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesThis matter falls within the terms of reference of the committee under the chairmanship of Lord Gardiner, which I told the House on 4th April—[Vol. 871, c. 1471–2.]—would be set up to review the terms of the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1973.
