§ Mr. William RodgersIn addition to their powers under the Common law, the 477W Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Act 1973 provides that members of Her Majesty's Forces may stop, detain, enter, if needs be by force, and search any vehicle taxed or untaxed for munitions or explosives. They may require a vehicle to be moved for the purposes of search, and may within the provisions of the Act cause it to be destroyed.
