HC Deb 01 May 1974 vol 872 c493W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection whether she has approved proposals for the sale of eggs in quantities of fives and tens, instead of half-dozens and dozens; and whether she has sought guarantees against consequential price increases.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

Packers and retailers normally sell eggs in quantities their customers prefer. I understand that the industry has no plans for abandoning the practice of selling in dozens and half-dozens. As things now stand I see no need for guarantees against price increases on this account.
