HC Deb 01 May 1974 vol 872 c493W
Mrs. Sally Oppenheim

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection why her Department was unable to give a reply to a query raised by the hon. Member for Gloucester regarding departmental responsibility for replying to a Question on the implementation of the EEC Draft Directive 67/548 1967 for which the former Department of Trade and Industry had already accepted responsibility; and why it was suggested that this Question should be within the departmental responsibility of the Home Office or the Department of Employment.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

I understand that the hon. Member was correctly informed that I am not responsible for replying to Questions on the directive, which deals with the approximation of laws relating to the classification, packaging and labelling of dangerous substances. This matter has been, and still is, primarily the responsibility of the Department of Employment.
