§ Mr. PrenticeMy Department does not collect regular statistics on teacher vacancies. Current reports from local education authorities suggest that there are at present about 400 vacancies for full-time secondary school teachers in Greater London, including about 100 in the ILEA. The situation changes from day to day. Authorities may not use the same criteria in assessing the number of vacancies.
