§ Mr. Moonmanasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will give urgent consideration to restoring the cuts in the building programme imposed by his predecessor, in particular in view of their effect on polytechnics and colleges.
§ Mr. PrenticeIn the 12 months beginning 1st July 1974 I will be ready to authorise the approval of major further and higher education building projects to the total value of about £33 million at 1973 prices. My Department will shortly be discussing with the local education authorities and providing bodies concerned which projects should be included. The University Grants Committee, which will have £11½ million of this total at its disposal, will similarly be settling the detailed programme for the universities.
