§ Mr. David Priceasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will make a progress report upon the research and development work, supported by public funds, into the chemical fuel cell.
§ Mr. StrangThere has been no significant research on fuel cells supported from public funds in the United Kingdom since the research sponsored by the NRDC was terminated during 1972. The Government keep such developments under review and I am advised that neither the changed energy scene nor developments in other countries warrant any expenditure for research on fuel cells by my Department. I do not, therefore, propose to make a progress report on the subject.
