asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects to publish the result of the public inquiry on the Ambleside bypass.

Mr. Carmichael

This is a principal road scheme for which the highway authority is Westmorland County Council. I am considering the inspector's report following a public inquiry into the council's planning application arid hope to announce a decision shortly.

Mr. Jopling

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if work on the Levens link road in Westmorland is being completed according to the agreed timetable; and when he expects the road to be opened.

Mr. Carmichael

Yes. September 1974, provided that no unexpected problems arise.
