HC Deb 25 March 1974 vol 871 cc10-1W
39. Mr. Sedgemore

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will seek powers to require that, in respect of all police forces, intelligence services and others engaged in prosecuting criminal cases, no investigation should be made of the political background, allegiances or activities of those called or about to be called for jury service with a view to objections being made to their acting as jurors in specific cases, and that where such inquiries have taken place no files will be kept on the persons concerned.

Mr. Alexander W. Lyon

I am not aware that there is any such practice. If my hon. Friend has evidence of it perhaps he will send it to me.
