HC Deb 25 March 1974 vol 871 c16W
Mr. Brocklebank-Fowler

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if, in view of the Government's decision to refer no more wages to the Relativities Commission, he will instruct the Agricultural Wages Board to consider the inadequacies of agricultural wages in relation to the recent settlement of the mineworkers' claim.

Mr. Buchan

The Agricultural Wages Board for England and Wales is an autonomous body and it would not be proper for me to intervene in this way. It is for organisations concerned to present their views on wage levels to the board and for the board to fix minimum rates.
