HC Deb 22 March 1974 vol 870 c197W
Mr. George Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will seek to ascertain how many postal ballot papers were issued throughout the United Kingdom in the recent General Election and the breakdown between those issued because of change of address, infirmity, and other reasons.

Dr. Summerskill

The number of postal votes will be included in the Return to an Address of the House, in respect of which a motion appeared on yesterady's Order Paper. An analysis of these figures for the whole country would entail a disproportionate amount of work for electoral registration officers, but I shall seek to obtain a representative sample and shall write to my hon. Friend when this is available.
