§ Mr. Ovendenasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will clarify the position of parents in receipt of supplementary benefits whose children continue in full-time education, not of a type given in schools, after the statutory school leaving age.
§ Mr. Robert C. BrownThis is a matter for the Supplementary Benefits Commission to decide, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Supplementary Benefit Act 1966, when claims to benefit are made in these circumstances. But I understand that the commission has its current policy under review, in consultation with the Department of Education and Science, and I am asking them to let my hon. Friend know the outcome in due course.
