HC Deb 21 March 1974 vol 870 c156W
Mr. Clemitson

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will seek powers to allow 16-year-old pupils to leave school, if they so desire, on completion of their examinations, without waiting for the end of the summer term.

Mr. Armstrong

My right hon. Friend will be studying the opinions, which are being sought at present, of the teacher and local authority associations on the proposal for an early summer leaving date.
